At the age of 10 years, her family moved to Massachusetts, where her mother was treated for cancer, but died shortly afterward. She was raised by her older sister and is still part of a close knit family of older siblings.
It was in Massachusetts in her high school years that Carla-Rae will tell you, "the acting BUG bit", doing high school plays. She also worked on school video performances. From there she attended Bridgewater State College in Massachusetts, with her course of study being Communications Arts and Science/Speech and Theatre. While in college and shortly after, Carla-Rae did regional plays, local and regional commercials, industrial training videos and modeling.
She was in Charlotte, North Carolina on a photo shoot when she met her husband Ricky during a church service at a local church. Together they have two sons. Carla-Rae home schooled her sons, who also enjoyed doing local and regional commercials. During that time she continued doing local and regional work and picked up a few day parts in feature films being shot in NC. In addition, Carla-Rae began to teach the skills she had studied and experiences she had faced in the acting field, on her own and in several schools. When her sons were finished with their home education. Carla-Rae knew it was time to pursue the career she so loved. Fueled by the support of her family, her own personal training, and the motivation that could knock any motivational guru out of the ball park, she went full speed ahead.
She and her husband, Ricky, now live in New York City where she has a full-time acting career.
